The Louisiana Department of Insurance announced that the registration for the next round of the Fortify Louisiana Household Program (LFHP) will open at 8 am on Wednesday, February 12. The record will close at 5 pm on Sunday, February 16.
Participants will be randomly selected using a lottery system.
The LFHP provides subsidies of up to $ 10,000 for the owners to update their roofs to the standards established by the Institute of Business Security Insurance and Home. The program helps Louisiana’s owners strengthen their roofs to better resist hurricane force winds.
To participate in the lottery, the owners must register during the five -day period in February. The owners who registered during a previous round but were not selected must be registered again if they want to participate in the next round. People who register on the last day of the registration period have the same possibility of being selected as those registered on the first day, so it is not necessary to hurry to register as soon as the period is opened.
The owners are required to create a profile in the LFHP system before registering for the lottery and can do so visiting the LFHP website and clicking on the login button. Housing owners who previously created a profile can use it for this and future rounds.
Once the lottery registration period is closed, the LFHP will randomly select 1,000 participants and send an email notification to the recorders who are selected to participate.
More than 1,800 subsidies for fortified roof have been issued since the program began in 2023, said Louisiana insurance commissioner Tim Temple.
