An insurance agent from North Carolina is waiting for an appearance in court next week after she was accused of fraudulently eliminating a life insurance policy with Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co.
North Carolina’s Department of Carolina said Matthew Jackson Swift, 42, from Mount Airy, was arrested earlier this month. It was released with a bail of $ 75,000 and is scheduled for an initial judicial hearing on February 19.
Swift at the end of 2023 supposedly forged documents and requested twice a life insurance policy without the knowledge of the head of the policy, then presented claims against the policy, according to an investigation of the Doi, the department said in a bulletin.
The records of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners show that Swift is a license producer in North Carolina. His license as a corridor was canceled or expired in 2023. He is authorized in life, accident, health and property and accident insurance lines and last year he was appointed progressive insurance of Southeast. A local news report said Swift had previously worked with Southern Farm Bureau Life.
Swift could not be contacted immediately to comment. Mount Airy News reported that Swift had been arrested four months ago for similar positions. He told the newspaper that these accusations were false and that they were brought by their former spouse.
