California has finished the application of its Non-emergency standards COVID-19.

The California Occupational Health and Safety Division announced the expiration of its Non-Emergency Prevention Standards of COVID-19 from February. These standards were implemented in response to the pandemic to guide employers on the mitigation of the propagation of COVID in the workplace.

Employers should no longer adhere to specific prevention measures described in the standards now expelled. However, they are still obliged to maintain the general security of the workplace through the injury and disease prevention program and address the hazards related to COVID identified.

Despite the end of these specific standards, certain obligations related to COVID are left. Employers must continue to report and maintain Covid case records, a requirement that remains in place until 2026. This also includes notifying workers of any exposure to COVID and follow specific guidelines for shooting.

Cal/OSHA encourages employers to communicate with the agency to obtain guidance on security measures and continuous compliance.
